A MacDonald Listened to a pre release version of the album today,

As a fan of Duran throughout the years i can honestly say that although i have always enjoyed the albums post Notorius i have always felt like they could be so much better - and with Red Carpet Massacre Duran prove me right - it is a storming album, full of consistent, diverse tracks which should appeal to all and give Duran Duran yet another top selling record and one to be remembered.

Highlights include opener The Valley - the slap bass is awesome, the title track, Last Man Standing and the Sax based Dirty Great Monster which harks back to the Notorious days.

Timaland and Timberlake give the album some grooves and only help in enhancing the sound created by Birminghams finest - Falling Down and Skin Divers perfect examples of this.

Top album, and relieved to see such an essential band to modern music back on form. 10/10

Chris Gardiner I've just pre-downloaded (CD in the post courtesy of Amazon so please don't break down my door) the new Album in eager anticipation now given it's first sound check and it seems gooood... sure it will grow on me, my only issue is the sound quality, it's a bit top heavy/raspy. Oh well, chuffed DD are still out there, some great reviews so far (stuff any indifference I say). There are not many bands who stand the test of time and survive. Nice 1 guys!

ross boyd awesome album, its got a haunting sound to most of the tunes, with a twist of 70s funk to it, yet it also blends in present day dance/hiphop and rock guitars and even the sax! its got a mixture of all music even with somefolk in one song! a truely new sound for the DDboys!! but i love it!

John Paul I'm tired of reading that it's too this or that. These guys have always been experimental with their sound and have done what any decent band should - put out a new record and not something that sounds the bloody same each time.

The English press hate Duran Duran, they always have and it's so petty. I suppose they all love to 5 star-rate Oasis, Coldplay and U2 who just get better and better by the way - every single and album sounds like one of the last!!!

I believe that this record is their best since Notorious, which I have down as one of the finest records ever made by anyone.

Edwina A fresh take on their traditional sound. Duran Duran deliver more than just the expected. I will never get tired of hearing Simon sing, or listening to Nick's keyboards. The band know how to keep moving forward with the times but still sound distinctively Duran. I guess that's why they are still making great records after 26 years. Can't wait to see it performed live.

raffi The best Duran Duran Album ever, great melody, great music, and this is the first time all my friends finally liked this album Red Carpet Massacre...but I'm very surprised with the album possition in the billboard chart, and in UK charts both the album and the single are in dissapointing possitions, this is a huge question mark for me, why? maybe there isn't enough advertising for this album? I always love Duran Duran music. Can't wait to see them live.

Nicolas I am from Argentina, I heard the entire album. To be honest I prefer more other DD albums, this one lacks "blood"..sounds to perfect and sometimes plain. However, DD plays incredible, Simon continue singing than ever, the production and album mix is outstanding. One more thing, I agree with John Paul, press was always very critic about their work (not only in England), sometimes because DD is a step forward others (Big Thing is more understandable now that when was first release). People keep them over almost 30 years and will continue doing it, just because they are really a Great Band!

Rod Barter I have been a Duran fan since the beginning and sensed from early on that these guys were in in for the long term. This for me is part of the fascination. They have an energy and belief in what they do that far outstrips most other artists. RCM is a really solid piece of work cleverly fusing their traditional pop artistry with the modern R&B beats and sounds introduced by the 2 'Tims'. It's an album that you can eagerly consume cover to cover without any uncomfortable interludes. Real highlights for me are Valley, Zoom in and She's too much. Once again DD demonstrate their ability to create a diverse range of songs that ooze sincerity, vigour and insight. Looking forward to the live experience boys.

Julie Why is this album not higher in the charts? It is the best album out there at the moment. I have been a Durannie for many years and was sceptical about the new album. However after listening to the opening track " the Valley" my sceptism went away. The album is fantastic and Simon's vocals sound amazing. Duran still has it takes and showed what a great live band they are when they played the one of gig at the Lyceum Theatre in London on 3/12/07. At least the band play original songs and do not do covers unlike popstars of today.

stevey John i am absolutely amazed at the diversity of duran duran. I am now 41 years old, been a fan since 1981 and i always look forward to their albums. This new album ( red carpet massacre ) is fresh, experimental and so different to the constant boy, girl band stuff out on the market now. If only people would just sit down and listen to this album and forget who it is, they would all be very satisfied. For me this album stands along side the medazzaland album, which wasnt released in the UK, but is also fantastic. Jealousy of duran duran is so pathetic, dont listen boys! keep up the entertainment, your true fans love you !!!

Michaël Vandebril Antwerp Belgium: I've just heard a advance copy of Astronaut, and it rocks! Hope the title song will be next single.

Stefan NL: Trust me on this. Old Durannie AND people whos musical tastes have evolved wil like this record a lot. It's been in my player now for two days and I still can't get enough. *****

Luftbrucke Padova Italy: Not a nostalgia album. not 80s frills. A record not easy to deal with. It could be divided in two parts: the first with catchy pop/rock/funky tracks and the second with long and atmosferic dark ballads and a real pearl such as "finest hour". I need more listenings to give a definitive picture of this but for sure it's a very good record.

Mario Mastroianni Roma Italy: Simply the Best DD album in the last 16 years! It has sounds that recall the Notorious era as well as the Big Thing and The Wedding Album ones, definitely worth the whole listening, not a single song is a filler, each one rocks!

madejski poznan poland: catchy,sexy,straightforward,atmospheric,groovy,dynamic-i couldn't expect such a good album.half way between 1st.album/rio-like era and new maturity.worth its line-up

Sven Music City USA: "Astronaut" (the title track) deserves to go straight to #1 and stay there. It's one of the catchiest songs the band has ever written.

Jesse Granada Spain: Great return, but a bad single choice, Sunrise is probably the worst song in this good record. The real highlights are Atronaut, Nice (old duran scent!!) and the absolutely great What happens tomorrow. Anyway I miss some of those Andy riffs and John nervous bass lines.

Paul Sinclair London United Kingdom: Totally against expectations Duran Duran have come up with probably their best album to date. Although there are better singles on previous albums Duran have never really produced a really consisently strong album all the way through (yes I include Rio). They almost do that here with only one duff track called 'One of Those Days'. But that leaves 11 brilliant tracks such as 'Finest Hour', Chains and Still Breathing. Deserves to have 3 or 4 big hit singles - Nice, What Happens Tomorrow and Astronaut. If there were any justice this would spend the next 12 months riding high on the album charts across Europe and the US. Fantastic.

Scott Dean Lincolnshire England: Ok, yes! I was there in the beginning (creeping age is a sensitive issue), and though there is no immediate `Girls on Film', `Rio', or `Notorious' this album is more than worthy of your attention. I agree with most that they have produce a great album (not one of The Greatest, but still they are definitely flying high with `Astronaut'). It's so different from what I'm currently listening to (Franz/JET/YYYeahs/ASH/MUSE etc), so at first it was a little difficult to swallow. But this album works on many more levels than the nostalgia trip the band experienced earlier this year. It seems to be a soup made from the most flavoured ingredients of `Notorious', `Big Thing' and `The Wedding Album'. The title track stands out as classic DD, but why `Sunrise' as the single? Personally I find this the most nauseating track on the entire album, so please don't judge it on this single. If you don't buy `Astronaut' now, by the the third single release you'll be `beamed aboard' like the res! t of us.
