New War Child Album On The Way
The War Child organization is to release another star studded album on
November 24 called Heroes
The charity that helps children affected by war have released some great
compilation albums over the past 13 years featuring cover versions and
contributions from some of the biggest names in music such as Radiohead, Blur
and Oasis. The new album will feature Duffy covering Paul McCartney's
'Live and Let and Let Die', Hot Chip doing Joy Division's
'Transmission' and Beck covers Bob Dylan's 'Leopard
Skin Pillbox Hat'.
Brian Wilson has nominated Rufus Wainwright to perform two tracks from his
classic Smile album and The Kooks do a
rendition of the Kinks' 'Victoria'.
War Child explain that: "The concept of "Heroes" is that the
biggest legends in music, including Sir Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, David Bowie,
Brian Wilson and The Clash, select one of the classic tracks from their own
songwriting canon, and nominate an artist from the next generation to create a
modern reworking of that classic song."
The final track list is to be confirmed.
