Doves and Little Boots Favourites for Mercury Music Prize
North Western acts Doves and Little Boots have been installed 5-1 joint favourites to lift the 2009 Mercury Music Prize.
The nominations are not officially released until late July but leading UK bookmakers Ladbrokes have the Doves' fourth studio effort Kingdom of Rust and Little Boots' debut Hands ahead of Two Suns by Bat for Lashes at 6-1. The debut albums La Roux and Florence and the Machine, which are not yet released, are strongly fancied as is the self-titled debut album from Glasvegas and Lily Allen's second long player It's Not Me, It's You.
Journal For Plague Lovers by Manic Street Preachers is a very good price at 50-1 as is Morrissey's Years of Refusal at 66-1 and Madness' The Liberty of Norton Folgate at 100-1.
